Exhibition in Mexico
November 18th 2011 I had an exhibition in Mexico, an opening with my paintings at La Pazion de La Pazta … The restaurant is located in the sunny city of La Paz on the Pacific coast of Mexico …
Dieter and I have now been in La Paz quite a few times, and we are both in love with the city.
When you stay in the old center of La Paz, you feel like you are in a medium sized village. In fact, there are approx. a quarter million inhabitants, but this you will not feel at all. However, one senses an ever-blazing sun, a clear blue sky above you, pelicans flying past looking for the next fish, a relaxed atmosphere and a desire to walk the more than 5 km. long Malecón (seafront).
I’ve spent most of the summer and autumn painting 12 paintings at home in my studio in Aarhus, Denmark.
It was these same paintings I now exhibit in La Paz.
When you sit at home in little Denmark surrounded by your privet hedges, it can be hard to imagine whether the size the colors and motif is the right to La Pazion de La Pazta.
But I was quite pleased with it all. The paintings had the right size, the colors glowed beautifull, and the African motifs were a good contrast to the Mexican environment.
The opening was held on a Friday evening and you can not say that it was overcrowded.
The missing people could be explained by this Friday fell into a long weekend, and many might have left town. Any how… The missing people didn’t really bother me much. Unfortunately I was sick with a temperature of 38.2 C so a huge crowd around me was not something I was in the need of.
Regardless, it was a pleasant evening with talk and some sangria 🙂
I sold a painting, which was wonderful - so I was quite satisfied.
The official end date of the exhibition is December 31th 2011 – but some of the paintings still hang there. So if you get over there, you are more than welcome at La Pazion de La Pazta in La Paz, Mexico …
